HOW DO I STOP BEING SHY?





Shyness can really hold people back partially because those who are shy tend to stay away from public situations and also speaking up and it is because they experience so much chronic anxiety.

Shyness can be overcome with time, effort and desire to change. But if your shyness is severe, you may need help from a counsellor or therapist though it can overcome it on your own by taking note of these.

Do not showcase your shyness. Those related to you closely are aware of it already and others may not have the time to take note of it. Shyness is not as visible as you probably think.

When others bring up your shyness, please do keep your tone casual. Then if it turns to be part of the discussion, speak of it cheerfully. Also if you are embarrassed when you are uncomfortable, don’t equalize it with shyness, do allow it to stand on its own.

Don’t in anyway label yourself as shy, but let yourself be defined as a unique individual.

Do not be self-sabotaging, because you are an enemy to yourself, so do not allow your critical inner voice to bring you down, rather examine the strength of the voice for you to disarm it.

It is also good that you shut down your imagination, being shy makes you feel rejected and disapproved even when it isn’t there. Just bear in mind that people probably like you much more than you give yourself credit for.

Shyness is really a type social anxiety; learn to manage your anxiety by making your out breathe much longer than your in-breath. Expanding the out-breath starts to relax your mind and body quickly and once you feel more relaxed, you will feel more sociable.

It is also good you practice being confident, as it will help in making you more relaxed. Just comfortably lie down somewhere and focus on breathing slowly and deeply and imagine yourself in the upcoming social situation looking comfortable and relaxed. You will be surprised how this self-hypnotic preparation will have an effect on the way you will feel when you get there.

Suffering from shyness should not scare you away from the success you are seeking. Always learn, persist, apply and be willing to invest in yourself. This is the strategies for the utmost success in overcoming your shyness. Out there is a big and beautiful world with lots of cool people in it, waiting for you.
